Gay Wedding In Full Venetian Grandeur

gay wedding in venice

How fabulous are these two?! When Izak and Danny first reached out to us to plan their destination wedding in Venice, they originally had a micro wedding with only a handful of people in mind. After announcing their plans to marry in Venice, the small elopement quickly turned into a full scale intimate wedding as no one wanted to miss out on the scenery and celebrations in Italy.

The grooms decided on Venice because of its romance, history and grandeur. Venue hunting was a treat, exploring uber luxurious palazzos and learning the histories of each place (all of us GG’s here in Europe are history buffs). We decided on Ca Sagredo because of its rich history and opulent decor. The palazzo was built in a Byzantine Gothic style and is lavishly adorned with frescoes from floor to ceiling, which made a timeless backdrop for their classically luxe nuptials.

The design concept paired Venice’s elegance and the rich colors that are prominent in Ca Sagredo. We used deep green, gold and pale blush for the color palette. Ca Sagredo’s facade has large Gothic windows facing out to the Grand Canal. We used these iconic windows in some of the design elements: the chargers we selected had an ornamental rim that were reflective of the windows’ outline and the invitations had that same shape blind embossed on the itinerary insert.

One of our favorite moments from the wedding weekend was the surprise after party that we organized for the guests, complete with Venetian masks and fabulous outfit changes for the grooms. The guests all donned their masks and danced the night away just as the Venetian nobles once did many years ago. Catch all the beautiful deets below in the video!
