Lush Tropical Fall Wedding At Bel Air Bay Club

Hilary and Alex met on their 2nd day of college in 2006 and instantly felt as though they’d known each other their whole lives. Over the next decade, this incredible couple became inextricably woven into each other’s lives spending time with family, traveling, and supporting each other’s impressive career goals. While Alex dreamed up amazing new technology (he sold his aptly named technology “Alexa” to Amazon right before proposing), Hilary worked incredibly diligently to earn her PHD in psychology (finishing her dissertation mere weeks before the wedding!).

Hilary’s love of fashion played an important part in this sweet couple's proposal. Alex planned a day tour of San Francisco with 5 locations and 5 new pairs of Dear Francis shoes waiting at each one. When the proposal came, Hilary was ecstatic to say yes.

In planning their perfect wedding, Hilary and Alex wanted to showcase Southern California’s laid back feel and the beauty of the Malibu coastline. They chose the Bel Air Bay Club to host their celebration and playfully incorporated local tropical elements with classic art deco vibes throughout the design details.

A few of our favorite moments from the night:

-When Hilary’s dress straps broke TWICE during their epic hora, the happy bride announced that it was a sign of good luck as she was having the best day of her life.

- Alex’s father, a notorious tough nut to crack, gave a speech about the person that Hilary is, that was one of the the sweetest things we’ve ever heard. Hearing a groom’s father speak so highly of his new daughter-in-law was so telling of the incredible relationship and community these two have around them.
