Romantic Soft Hued Micro Wedding at Masseria Grieco

In love and with love from Puglia: we designed this micro wedding inspiration at Masseria Grieco to be as warm and sensual as Anthea and Thomas. Choosing the setting for this intimate occasion was easy. Any one who is in the know, knows that Puglia is Italy’s new destination wedding hot spot. Our couple is from the south of Italy, only a stone's throw away from this alluring region, renown for its distinctive architecture with white washed limestone walls and conical roof tops (called trulli). This inspiring locale with sun bleached stone, wheat fields and Romanesque structures fed our imaginations and served as the foundation of the aesthetic.

Masseria Grieco was the perfect blank canvas to build an organically rich textured and soft toned design around. For the palette, we mimicked the gentle contrast of the warm colored stones with a smoke gray to add subtle depth. The sixteenth century building has ample raw texture and patina. Juxtaposing the existing elements by bringing in soft, natural fabrics, feathery foliage and gold accents, a romantic effortlessness.

The stationery’s modern simplicity allowed the composition and shape of the design to speak volumes. The arched cuts of the welcome bag tags and the menu wrap matches the Roman style arches of the masseria. The minimalist suite with its ample negative space, clean type font and light hearted script is enveloped and sealed with stamped wax and a local dried flower bud.

What a handsome pair Anthea and Thomas make. Their ensembles exude natural elegance and a bit of playfulness. We love her bridal outfit change; why have one dress when you can have two? The sensational boned bodice and tiered tulle Vagabond Bridal dress (with removable train!) echoes the stacked stone walls of the masseria (and maybe a little bit of Carrie Bradshaw). We love how the smokey gray hue pops against the sandy shaded background for portraiture. Hair, makeup and jewelry was kept fresh and casual. The daringly glamorous evening dress from J. Andreatta with its plunging lines, sweeping sleeves and skirt brought sultry vibes to Anthea’s evening look. Thomas’s offwhite suit and suede loafers fit nicely into the colors of the scene and emanates that quintessential laid back summer feeling.

The flowers with their soft ivory hues unfurl into a romantic, ruffled collection of blooms that emit a sense of quiet beauty. Creamy garden roses, dried grasses, nude bougainvilleas, slightly washed out strelizia leaves, earthy hydrangeas and a touch of preserved, bleached ferns assembled in asymmetrical arrangements that tantalize the eyes.

It was so fun to bring the table top vision to life. The table top design melded the colors of the alcove with the spirit of the romantic, playfulness of the dress. The grey table linen was paired with muslin cotton at the place settings. The custom made Puglian earthenware plates, flower vessels and candle holders were bellissimo! The modern gold taper candle holders and the classic gold flatware brought in a pop of warm metallic sheen. The candles with their varying sizes and warm hues created a visual depth while the translucent chairs and glassware let the rest of the table and scene come to the foreground. The cake with its whimsical layers of sugar paper and feathery foliage mirror the layers of the equally fun-loving dress.

Who doesn’t like guest bag swag especially when they’re full of curated delights from Italy? We put care into providing guests with creature comforts as well as long lasting momentos that serve as a joyful reminder of a wonderful weekend full of love. The natural dyed cotton tote, hammam towel, treats and soy wax perfume drawer bars serve as a thank you to the guests for joining the celebration.

This micro wedding proves that parties in the era of COVID-19 don’t have to sacrifice beautiful design or convivial atmosphere. These intimate celebrations can offer a more slowly savored weekend with the couple’s nearest and dearest. Relaxing in an alluring, exclusive venue such as Masseria Grieco with all the time to explore, dine, rest or toast to the future while watching the sun set behind the Puglian rooftops is one heck of a way to revel in love and life.
